Sediba Sa Rona

Lodge style Riverside sanctuary

A legacy reborn

Opening in March 2026, Sediba Sa Rona (“Our Source of Water”) ushers in a new era of safari in Botswana. Set on the banks of the Khwai River at the edge of the Moremi Game Reserve, this luxury tented camp rises on the historic footprint of the former Khwai River Lodge—one of the country’s first photographic safari camps. The rebuild honours that legacy while embracing a modern vision of sustainability and empowerment. Every detail, from the lodge’s architecture to its guiding philosophy, has been designed to celebrate heritage while treading lightly on the land. Nestled beneath ancient leadwood and fig trees, Sediba Sa Rona is more than a retreat—it’s a meeting point of culture, wilderness, and soulful luxury.

Tented suites on the river’s edge

The heart of Sediba Sa Rona lies in its fifteen luxury Tents, including one expansive two-bedroom family tent, each designed to immerse guests in the rhythms of the Khwai. Raised decks open onto sweeping river views, a front-row seat to elephants drinking, lechwe grazing, or lions padding across the floodplains. Inside, the style is contemporary yet deeply attuned to place: organic textures, clean architectural lines, and natural finishes that echo the surrounding wilderness. Spacious en suite bathrooms feature both indoor and outdoor showers, while thoughtful details—plush bedding, locally crafted décor, and eco-conscious amenities—ensure guests feel cosseted without losing that essential connection to nature.

The main lodge is equally inviting. Al fresco dining decks, an open-air fire pit linked by raised walkways, and a swimming pool all look out across the riverine landscape. Evenings unfold around the fire deck with stargazing and storytelling, while the well-stocked bar and indoor lounges create a convivial space to unwind. For moments of solitude, the spa offers wellness treatments designed to rejuvenate body and mind, while the curio shop showcases Botswana’s artisans through handcrafted jewellery, textiles, and wildlife-inspired pieces.

Dining reflects a culture of connection: communal tables for sharing safari stories, with the option of private meals on request. From sunrise coffee overlooking the Khwai to multi-course dinners paired with South African wines, gastronomy here is as thoughtful as the design. Every element of the lodge, from the elevated viewing decks to the curated interiors, is made to feel both inevitable and extraordinary—a place where luxury is understated, intuitive, and deeply rooted in its setting.

Activities at Sediba Sa Rona

The Khwai Concession is famed for its abundance of wildlife and rich diversity of habitats, and Sediba Sa Rona places you right at its heart. Twice-daily game drives reveal the full drama of Botswana’s wilderness: elephants moving in great herds, wild dogs coursing across the floodplains, lions and leopards stalking silently through mopane woodland. For a different perspective, mokoro excursions glide guests through shallow channels lined with lilies, while birdwatchers can expect everything from pied kingfishers to the elusive Pel’s fishing owl.

Night drives in the concession reveal a new cast of nocturnal characters, from civets to prowling big cats, while optional day trips into Moremi Game Reserve expand the adventure further. For those seeking an aerial view, helicopter flights (available at extra cost) lift you over meandering waterways and game-dotted plains—an experience both exhilarating and serene. Whether you are a first-time safari-goer or a seasoned traveller, activities here are tailored to individual interests, ensuring every guest finds their own rhythm with the wilderness.
