Khwai Lediba
Lodge style Riverside elegance
Classic camp on the Khwai River
On the edge of the Moremi Game Reserve, where wildlife crowds the riverbanks and birdlife fills the air, Khwai Lediba offers an intimate safari in Botswana that feels both timeless and immersive. Run by African Bush Camps, this luxury tented camp is rooted in authenticity, designed with a light touch that lets the surrounding wilderness take centre stage. With just seven tents set beside the Khwai River, the camp is small enough to feel exclusive yet welcoming, blending warm hospitality with a style that recalls the golden age of safari—comfortable, unhurried, and deeply connected to nature.
Luxury under canvas
Khwai Lediba’s appeal lies in the details. Each of the six luxury tented suites, plus a family tent and a honeymoon suite, is styled with natural textures and soft, earthy tones that echo the surrounding floodplains. Raised wooden decks open onto private verandas overlooking the river, so you can sip morning coffee as elephants wade across or listen to hippos grunting under a starlit sky.
Inside, king-size beds are draped with billowing mosquito nets, while plush rugs and handcrafted furnishings create a cocoon of comfort. En-suite bathrooms feature both indoor and outdoor showers, offering the choice between privacy and a refreshingly wild experience. The honeymoon tent adds an outdoor bathtub, the perfect place to soak under Botswana’s night sky. Families are equally well catered for with an interconnecting suite that balances togetherness with space to unwind.
The atmosphere throughout is relaxed yet refined: a swimming pool and sun deck look out over the lagoon, while the open-sided lounge provides a shady retreat during the heat of the day. Guests gather around the firepit in the evenings, where stories are swapped beneath constellations and the flicker of lantern light. Meals—often served al fresco—celebrate fresh, seasonal ingredients, and there’s a boutique shop showcasing local crafts that support community projects in Khwai village. Everything is designed to feel unpretentious but elevated, a place where you can truly exhale without ever losing sight of the wild.
Activities at Khwai Lediba
The camp’s location is a gift for safari-goers. Game drives venture into both the Moremi Game Reserve and the private Khwai Community Concession, offering the best of both worlds: thrilling wildlife encounters in one of Africa’s most renowned reserves, combined with the flexibility of off-road exploration and night drives in the concession. It’s an area known for high predator density—lion, leopard, and wild dog are regularly sighted—as well as large elephant herds and a rich variety of plains game.
For a slower pace, guided walks reveal the subtler rhythms of the bush, while seasonal mokoro excursions glide silently along the Khwai River’s reed-fringed channels. Birdwatchers will be in paradise, with hundreds of species recorded in the area. For those curious about the human side of the landscape, visits to Khwai village provide an authentic glimpse into community life. Whether you’re a first-timer or a seasoned safari traveller, Khwai Lediba tailors every day to match your pace and passion.
Tripadvisor comments Khwai Lediba
What a beautiful place! The rooms were luxurious, food was fantastic and the views and hippos were amazing. Our guide - Gordon was great about trying to find animals we hadn't seen on other safaris -- so we were lucky and saw the wild dogs and a couple of male lions. Of course we saw all the other beautiful animals - zebras, giraffes, hippos.... too. Had a wonderful time!

Our stay at Khwai Lediba was incredible! The staff made us feel at home and all were incredibly attentive. Our guide had an amazing knowledge and showed us the wonderful nature of Khwai during spring (including mating cats and hundreds of elefants, zebras, girafs and more)
