Little Sable is located in the Khwai Private Reserve, a 200,000-hectare area of pristine wilderness. A total of eight twin / double rooms are tented and raised on wooden platforms to maximise the views across the grasslands. Camp life revolves around the sunken lounge and fire pit, where morning coffee and evening sundowners are enjoyed. Central spaces include a lounge, bar and dining area with spectacular vistas over the reserve. Meals are hearty and wholesome. With only eight, Meru-style tents, Little Sable Camp near Moremi is a very intimate camp with an emphasis on hospitality, comfort and a touch of quirkiness. Each room is your private cosy retreat from the elements and all have wonderfully large King-size beds, writing desks, cool ensuite bathrooms and private verandas with views across the endless grasslands.

Activities at Little Sable

Little Sable is located amid the shimmering grasslands of the Khwai Private Reserve. Up here, there’s something to see around every corner and a different activity to enjoy every day, from classic game drives to mokoro trips and boat safaris. Morning and afternoon game drives are conducted through the reserve in open vehicles and limited mokoros and boating excursions are offered, depending on water levels.

My husband and I flew into the Delta and spent three nights at the Jackal and Hide in October. Expecting something quite basic, we were pleasantly surprised by the comfort of the tents and the camp in general. Our hosts, Barbara and Thomas, were quite gracious and would also meet us on the return from our game drives with cold towels. The food was very good and was accompanied each evening by a wine selection. ... Wax was our spotter/driver and did everything he could to ensure we saw as many animals as possible (including that elusive leopard). We also did twice see a pack of wild dogs with a kill. They had a den near the camp. It was very warm but dry heat when we were there and got up to 109 F in the tent one afternoon. But the ceiling fan did help and we had brought cooling towels with us as well. On two of the nights were were there we were visited by an elephant right outside our tent so that provided some excitement as well! We were very pleased with our visit!

Our family of four enjoyed our time at Jackal and Hide. We saw so much.. three different leopards, lions, wild dog, hyena and of course so many elephants. The Khwai Private Reserve is so nice because you have thousands upon thousands of acres to yourself and you can go off road as you chase wild dogs on the hunt or a shy leopard as she finds her cub. You won’t see massive herds of game but you will see so much variety.. seemingly a surprise around every corner.
