A view with a (tented) room

Elephant Pan Tented Camp is located in Khwai Private Reserve, bordering the iconic Moremi Game Reserve. Nestled amongst a grove of cathedral mopane trees, this tranquil, “vintage” camp overlooks a vast pan (Elephant Pan), and natural water hole, a steady source of water for the areas abundant wildlife. Simple but comfortable, the eight tented rooms have en-suite bathrooms with gas showers. This solar-powered camp offers a close-to-nature, uncomplicated safari experience. The wood and thatch main areas include a viewing deck, lounges with comfortable seating and a dining area with a communal table, where wholesome meals are served. A small splash pool affords welcome relief during warm days.

The tents at Elephant Pan can be set up in twin or double configuration. The theme can be described as stylish simplicity: the camps boasts that in your tent: "You’ll find everything you need, and nothing you don’t". Mosquito netting keeps the insects out; also a luggage rack and wardrobe have been fitted along with an electronic safe for your valuables. In the morning, you will be able to open your tent flaps straight on to the splashing elephant in water pan below, spend your siesta watching herds trumpeting and snorting, and fall asleep to antelope roaming just outside your canvas walls.

Activities at Elephant Pan

Day and night game drives are conducted in open safari vehicles within the concession area, in search of the animals which inhabit the area: elephant, lion, buffalo, hyena, sable, roan and general plains game. Particularly sensational is the ground level hide (10 meters away from the busy waterhole) offering superb photographic opportunities.

This place is just incredible with fantastic staff and wildlife that knocked my socks off! I cannot say enough positive words about this magical spot in Botswana. Hundreds of elephants silently wandering through the camp, drinking at the waterhole only several feet from where we sit to eat(great food, great South African wines) and soak in the pool. And many other animals and birds including a male lion who decided to come to drink at the waterhole the last morning we were there. The Botswanan people are so knowledgeable, kind and truly care about their country. This is a place I would love to see again.

Hyena Pan was one of the most incredible experiences of our lives! My husband and I went here as our first stop in our honeymoon trip and we will never forget it. The Hyena Pan Team goes above and beyond to be detail-oriented and provide the most authentic safari experience. Everything always ran perfectly on schedule from meals to the safari activities and beyond. In there camp, they also have a watering hole where the elephants come to drink fresh water and bath themselves to cool off in mud. Such a unique and romantic experience to watch these majestic beautiful creatures in their natural habitats. Food: The food was exquisite. They would huddle us around campfire every morning to get warmed up and reflect on the experience thus far and talk about past safari experiences our guides have had.
