Camp Khwai
Lodge style Boutique bush charm
A boutique camp with a big heart
Tucked along a picturesque bend of the Khwai River, just outside Botswana’s Moremi Game Reserve, Camp Khwai offers an intimate safari experience. Family-owned and eco-conscious, the camp blends relaxed comfort with authentic adventure. With space for just 16 guests, it ensures privacy, personal attention, and a low-impact footprint on the surrounding wilderness.
Powered by solar energy and staffed by a warm local team, Camp Khwai combines sustainability with understated style. Expect elephants drinking at the riverbank, antelope grazing across the floodplain, and the haunting call of a fish eagle—nature is never far away.
Canvas tents with character
The camp’s charm lies in its simplicity, expressed through six deluxe tents and a spacious family unit, each elevated on timber decks with views over the Khwai River. Wide verandas invite quiet reflection—coffee at dawn as hippos stir, or sundowners as the bush shifts into night.
Inside, tents feature super-king or twin beds draped with mosquito nets, ceiling fans, and ensuite bathrooms with hot showers. Natural textures and earthy tones, softened with Batswana details, create a relaxed yet refined sanctuary after a day in the wild.
The family tent stands out for groups or multigenerational travellers, with interleading bedrooms and shared lounge areas. It balances space and privacy while keeping the drama of the bush just outside.
The main thatched area forms the camp’s social hub, with a restaurant, bar, and shaded terraces. A modest pool overlooks the river, while evenings revolve around the fire-deck under Botswana’s starlit skies. With Wi-Fi, charging points, and attentive night-watch staff, comfort and safety are woven seamlessly into the experience.
Activities at Camp Khwai
Days at Camp Khwai follow the rhythm of the bush. Twice-daily safaris with expert guides—including female rangers—reveal the drama of Moremi’s landscapes: lions on the floodplains, giraffes at acacias, or the rare wild dog. Drives are tailored for every guest, from family-friendly outings to longer explorations across the Khwai Concession and Moremi.
For a slower pace, glide through papyrus channels on a mokoro canoe, spotting jacanas, kingfishers, or hippos. Guided bush walks reveal tracks, plants, and the smaller wonders of the ecosystem, while cultural visits to Khwai village connect you with local traditions.
From game drives to mokoros, every activity is designed with comfort, safety, and storytelling in mind, ensuring experiences as memorable as the wildlife sightings themselves.

Staff were very attentive and helpful, very welcoming, and the food was good! Two activities a day were also great with rest time in between. Saw leopards, lions, zebras, elephants, etc. Highly recommend.
